// A collection of work developed through Kent State University’s foundational design studios, introducing the fundamental principles of architectural thinking, representation, and making. Emphasizing the importance of working by hand, the studios established a foundation in traditional drafting techniques, architectural drawing conventions, lineweight hierarchy, and the careful construction of physical models. Through a series of exercises and investigations, the work explores spatial organization, form, interiority, light, materiality, pattern, and composition, while developing an understanding of how individual elements are assembled into coherent architectural wholes. Particular attention is given to the relationship between drawing and making, using both as tools for understanding proportion, geometry, material relationships, and the translation of abstract design concepts into physical form.
