// Developed as part of Kent State University’s Look at Me Now! photography workshop in Florence, Italy, this series investigates the relationship between architecture, infrastructure, and the manipulation of natural light within the historic urban fabric. Focusing on the small bridges connecting otherwise independent buildings, the photographs examine how these elevated passages establish moments of darkness within the narrow streets below, framing distant apertures of natural light. Originally conceived as connections for circulation and services, these structures become architectural devices that alter the perception of space through contrast, shadow, and perspective. Particular emphasis is placed on the relationship between the darkened foreground and illuminated vanishing point, exploring how the presence of light beyond an obscured threshold establishes visual continuity and draws the observer through the urban landscape.
